Mr. Metzerott, of Rochester, MN died December 17, 2007. He was born February 14, 1929 in Rochester, MN.
Graduate of George Washington University and fellow of the Mayo Clinic of Rochester. Practiced anesthesia in Louisville, KY, Newark, NJ, and Charlotte, NC, and member of the AMA. He was also a Naval Aviator and Flight Surgeon. In NC he was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and The Flying Physicians Association and owned his own flight school.
He was a contributor to Sigma Chi, U.S. Naval Memorial, Tailhook Assoc., TIGHAR, The Flight of the Voyager, American Humane Society, Heifer International and various other charities. He was a member of the Doctors Mayo Society of the Mayo Clinic Alumni Association. Some of his interests included hunting and fishing. He was an avid outdoorsman and flight enthusiast.
In retirement he continued his studies at Oxford University, Philosophy at Worcester College and English History at Merton College. He attended the World Skeptics Congress at Heidelberg University. He was a voracious reader, music lover, and film buff.

He is survived by two sisters, Jo Oprendek and Pauline Hulen; nieces and nephews, Trey and Linda Oprendek, Rhonda and Matthew Latham; ex-wife, Beverly Metzerott; children, Oliver Metzerott, Dawn Thurman, Matthew Metzerott, and Heidi Metzerott; grandchildren, Rose, Lindsay, Amanda, and Graeme Thurman, Trevor Davis, and Megan Metzerott; ex-wife, Holly Metzerott; and his beloved dog and companion Dingo.
